New Books!

Hooray! New books! Getting new books into the library is like Christmas to me. I absolutely love it. I’ve put all the new books on a list in Goodreads in case anyone would like to browse. You can view that here. I also have a few personal recommendations from the new batch of books.

The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner

I read this book this summer and it is fantastic. I loved that it dealt with faith, especially being set in the South. There are very few young adult books that deal even mention faith, which is a shame since it’s something that a lot of teens are figuring out.

Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya

This is one of my favorite manga series, ever. The previous publisher closed and it wasn’t available for a time. I was so excited when they began releasing this collector’s editions. It has a fantastic mix of fantasy, mystery, family drama, and a bit of romance.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

There are a lot of opinions about this book, but I thought it was a nice, nostalgic experience. It was nice to return to the magic of the wizarding world and I really enjoyed some of the new characters.

Not if I See You First by Eric Lindstrom

This story centers on a teen girl who is blind. It covers some good issues like friendship drama, how we should treat others, and not being condescending to those who are differently-abled. It also had a super sweet romantic element, and sometimes that’s just nice to read.
